In the world of football, every stunning kit released sparks a counterbalance of bizarre designs meant to keep the style equilibrium intact. After showcasing the season’s most fashionable jerseys, it’s time to shift focus to the kits that stand out for all the wrong reasons this season, ranging from peculiar to utterly outrageous.
While some clubs prefer to adhere to traditional designs or modest updates, others have ventured into uncharted territory with audacious and unconventional designs, aiming to provoke reactions and, in some cases, shock their own supporters.
Some of these designs might achieve cult status in the future, while others could be relegated to ‘worst kit’ lists, or worse, end up forgotten in landfills. Here is a collection of jerseys that embody the spirit of pushing boundaries, regardless of the aesthetic outcome. Yet, the effort deserves recognition, even if misguided.
Bahia Special Edition (Puma)
Brazil’s Bahia made a splash with their Superman-themed kit, featuring a vibrant blue base adorned with a yellow shield logo and a dramatic red cape that drapes off the back, coinciding with the release of a blockbuster superhero film.
Borussia Dortmund Away (Puma)
Dortmund has taken a bold step this season with their striking fluorescent yellow-and-gray away jersey. This marks a notable change after 18 years of black away kits, which may be a shock to loyal fans.
Exeter City
Exeter has introduced a unique twist to their otherwise standard 2025-26 kits, allowing fans to add graffiti-inspired Grecian designs to their shirts for an extra cost—a choice that might enhance or detract from the overall appearance.
Forest Green Rovers Home (Reflo)
Celebrating their commitment to sustainability, Forest Green Rovers have created the world’s first vegan-certified kit constructed from recycled materials and plant-based dyes. The eye-catching design resembles the vivid colors of a highly poisonous tree frog.
The away kit takes vibrancy to the next level with its neon pink color scheme.
Forward Madison FC Third (Hummel)
Forward Madison FC has embraced whimsy with their pink feathered shirt influenced by a flamboyance of flamingos—an apt name for their supporters group, “The Flock.” Their away kit includes actual tartan shorts, showcasing their playful approach to football fashion.
Latina Home (Ezeta)
Latina’s new kits from Ezeta take eccentricity to heart, with the blue home jersey prominently featuring a giant lion’s head in the center, making a bold fashion statement.
Lifofane FC Away (Umbro)
In a truly unique design choice, Lifofane FC has introduced a kit that features helicopters. This distinct look may be the first of its kind in football history.
Lugo Special Edition (CDLU)
To commemorate the historical Arde Lucus festival, Lugo’s in-house manufacturer released special edition jerseys, inspired by ancient Roman armor with designs showcasing both leather and iron influences.
Sacramento Republic FC “Attack” Kit (Hummel)
This jersey is reminiscent of the 1990s, featuring a wild “bear attack” design with scratch marks and oversized details that evoke a nostalgic vibe, despite the club only being founded in 2012.
Samsunspor Third (Hummel)
Samsunspor’s new kit draws on two unusual inspirations: the rolling waves of the Black Sea and the bright blue eyes of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, creating a unique visual experience that invites closer inspection.
Slavia Prague Away (Castore)
Slavia Prague’s new away shirt channels cosmic inspiration with a striking purple half-and-half design. Their promotional material reflects an existential theme, emphasizing the eternal nature of football and the universe.
Sorrento Away (Ezeta)
Sorrento has taken a dive into design inspiration with their away kit, depicting the vibrant Mediterranean through citrus and floral motifs, which shines brightest in the warm sunlight of Naples.
Telstar Third (Robey)
Telstar’s refreshing third kit presents a whimsical take on traditional sailor tattoos, with lighthouses and galleons featured prominently. Their away design cleverly mimics a chunky sweater, maintaining the nautical theme.
TSV Hartberg Home (Adidas)
Clinching a world record, Hartberg’s new kit sports an astonishing 23 sponsorship logos—a striking and chaotic display that mirrors their recent trend of viral marketing success.
Whitby Town Away (Hummel)
Whitby Town’s new away kit has seen tremendous popularity, showcasing a design inspired by Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” which links back to its coastal roots. It might be wise to avoid direct sunlight while wearing this jersey.
