Uncertain Future for Erik ten Hag as Manchester United Edge Toward Decision – Latest Updates on Manager’s Job Status

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS' one key ultimatum to Erik ten Hag in exchange for some transfer power - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United will reportedly pull the trigger and sack manager Erik ten Hag if the team loses their next two matches against Brentford and Fenerbahce.

Ten Hag seems to have survived an executive meeting that was held by club chiefs last week, in which his future was discussed.

It had been suggested that the Dutchman would have been fired amidst United’s extremely underwhelming start to the 2024/25 season.

The Red Devils are currently in 14th position in the Premier League, having won just two of their opening seven fixtures. United have only eight points to their name and have failed to grab a victory in their last five matches across all competitions.

In addition to this, United have scored just five goals this term and have now recorded their worst start to a campaign since 1989/90.

As club football makes a return this weekend, Football Insider reports that Ten Hag will be relieved of his duties if the club lose their next two fixtures against Brentford and Fenerbahce.

United are set to host Thomas Frank’s men at Old Trafford on Saturday before traveling to Turkey to meet Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce side in the Europa League five days later.

According to Football Insider, “Sources say the Dutchman, 54, is “clinging on” to his job at Old Trafford after a dismal start in the 2024-25 campaign.”

“Sources say it is “inevitable” Ten Hag will lose his job at Old Trafford if he cannot inspire a turnaround in the next two fixtures.”

Ten Hag is under contract at United until June 2026 following the extension of his deal in the summer.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United will have to pay him £15m if they decide to part ways with him – a factor that is complicating the hierarchy’s decision as to whether or not to end his tenure at the club.

United vs. Brentford kicks off at 15:00 BST.
