Up-and-coming golfer Kennedy secures maiden Challenge Tour victory – Golf News

Teen sensation Kennedy claims first Challenge Tour title - Golf News

Frank Kennedy maintained his composure on the final day at Adamstal Golf Club in Austria to secure his first victory as a professional at the Euram Bank Open. The 18-year-old Englishman, based in Florida, entered the final round with a two-shot lead and held onto it with a level-par front nine.

Despite a bogey on the 12th hole, Kennedy stayed focused to par his remaining six holes and finish at 13 under par, one stroke ahead of German Nicolai von Dellingshausen in second place.

Kennedy, who turned professional after giving up his spot in last year’s Walker Cup team, expressed his joy at joining the winner’s circle in his first full season as a professional.

“I’m over the moon,” Kennedy said. “It was a tough day, I didn’t make anywhere near as many putts as I did the first three days, but definitely happy to come away with the win.

“The win gives me a full Challenge Tour card,” he added. “Hopefully I can push on for the rest of the season, finish in the top 20, and get onto the DP World Tour.”

France’s Martin Couvra tied for third place with Austrian Maximilian Steinlechner at 11 under par, just one shot ahead of Oliver Lindell from Finland, Norwegian Herman Sekne, and German Velten Meyer who finished in fifth place.
