US Men’s National Team October roster announced by Stars and Stripes FC

October USMNT roster released - Stars and Stripes FC

The United States Men’s National Team will return to action next weekend in friendly matches against Panama and Mexico, and we now have a roster. Today, U.S. Soccer announced the 25-player USMNT roster for those matches.

It’s the first roster for new head coach Mauricio Pochettino as he will take to the sidelines for the first time when the USMNT hosts Panama on October 12th in Austin. The team then travels to Guadalajara for a rare road friendly against Mexico on October 15th.

With it being Pochettino’s first roster, who was brought in was met with intrigue. It appears that there are some familiar names returning to camp, while one player in particular – goalkeeper Zack Steffen – returns to the national team after several windows where he was not selected.

The 25-player USMNT roster:

GOALKEEPERS (4): Ethan Horvath (Cardiff City), Patrick Schulte (Columbus Crew), Zack Steffen (Colorado Rapids), Matt Turner (Crystal Palace)

DEFENDERS (8): Marlon Fossey (Standard Liege), Kristoffer Lund (Palermo), Mark McKenzie (Toulouse), Tim Ream (Charlotte FC), Antonee Robinson (Fulham FC), Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati), Joe Scally (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Auston Trusty (Celtic FC)

MIDFIELDERS (7): Brenden Aaronson (Leeds United), Gianluca Busio (Venezia), Johnny Cardoso (Real Betis), Weston McKennie (Juventus), Aidan Morris (Middlesbrough), Yunus Musah (AC Milan), Malik Tillman (PSV Eindhoven)

FORWARDS (6): Folarin Balogun (Monaco), Ricardo Pepi (PSV Eindhoven), Christian Pulisic (AC Milan), Josh Sargent (Norwich City), Timothy Weah (Juventus), Haji Wright (Coventry City)

These will be the first players to show Pochettino what they can do as they move forward.
