USMNT Weekend Match Viewer’s Guide: Who’s on Fire and Who’s Cooling Down

USMNT weekend viewing guide: Hot and cold

The goals keep coming for USMNT players who make the field, there were another handful of contributions on Tuesday across various matches. The only thing that seems to be able to slow them down is injury which has also been an ongoing issue this Fall. There’s a pretty full slate this weekend including a USMNT star getting the broadcast network treatment this weekend. Let’s see what we’ve got:

Friday

Mainz v Borussia Mönchengladbach – 2:30p on ESPN+

Joe Scally and Borussia Mönchengladbach get the weekend started when they face Mainz on Friday afternoon. ‘Gladbach are coming off a 3-2 win over Heidenheim which pulled them into eleventh place in the table, one point ahead of Mainz. Scally started again last weekend and went the full 90’ in Gladbach’s win.

Saturday

Bristol City v Leeds United – 7:30a on Paramount+

Brenden Aaronson picked up his third goal of the season on Tuesday in Leeds’ 2-1 win over Watford. Leeds have lost just once this season and are tied with Burnley for second place and automatic promotion a quarter of the way through the English Championship season.

Coventry City v Luton Town – 7:30a on Paramount+

Haji Wright also scored on Tuesday but Coventry City had to settle for a draw with QPR as the two sides remain in the relegation zone in the Championship. This weekend Coventry face 19th place Luton Town who are just two points ahead of them.

Augsburg v Borussia Dortmund – 9:30a on ESPN+

18-year-old Cole Campbell has made the Borussia Dortmund bench the last two weekends as well as midweek for their Champions League matchup with Real Madrid but has yet to see his first minutes for the club. Meanwhile Gio Reyna remains sidelined for Dortmund who were thumped on Tuesday despite taking a two-goal lead and currently sit seventh in the Bundesliga table as well. If the team isn’t able to turn things around Reyna may find himself playing for yet another manager.

St. Pauli v Wolfsburg – 9:30a on ESPN+

Kevin Paredes was sidelined for Wolfsburg as they fell to Werder Bremen 4-2 last weekend and have just seven points through their first seven matches. Paredes is apparently nearing a return but believed to be out yet this weekend.

Bologna v AC Milan – Noon on Paramount+

Christian Pulisic kept stuffing the stat sheet with an assist last weekend and a goal against Club Brugge in Champions League on Tuesday. His form at the start of the season has been truly remarkable. The team won both matches and they currently sit in fourth place in Serie A. Yunus Musah continues to come off the bench though he did see a full 45’ last weekend.

Everton v Fulham – 12:30p on NBC

Antonee Robinson and Fulham get the full broadcast treatment as they face Everton on Saturday afternoon on NBC. Fulham have lost two straight and are in 10th place as they head into a match against an Everton side that seem to be constantly flirting with relegation but are undefeated in four straight league matches.

PSV v PEC Zwolle – 12:45p on ESPN+

The Americans keep marching along in Eindhoven as they’ve won their first nine league matches and played PSG to a draw on Tuesday in Champions League action. Malik Tillman started midweek but was used as a sub last weekend while Richard Ledezma came off the bench midweek but was not used last weekend while Ricardo Pepi’s role was reversed, he saw time last weekend as a sub but did not see the field on Tuesday. Their opponent this weekend, PEC Zwolle, are currently tied for the relegation playoff spot so it may be an opportunity for Tillman to get more rest and Ledezma and Pepi to see a few more minutes.

Sunday

Leganes v Celta Vigo – 8a on ESPN Deportes and ESPN+

Word out of Celta Vigo continues to be that Luca de la Torre is being held out with an ankle injury as he has yet to see the field this season. Celta fell 2-1 to Real Mardrid last weekend but remain in tenth place.
