The U.S. women’s national team had one key member selected to FIFA’s FIFPro Women’s World 11 for 2023.
Veteran forward Alex Morgan was named to the annual Best XI, U.S. Soccer announced Monday. It marked the sixth time of Morgan’s career that she was named to the World11, which is voted upon by over 28,000 professional players around the world.
Fellow USWNT teammate Alyssa Naeher finished as a finalist for the World11 while incoming head coach Emma Hayes was a finalist for The Best FIFA Women’s Coach for 2023.
Earning World11 recognition for the third consecutive year, Morgan started in all 15 USWNT games in 2023. Morgan scored two goals and registered five assists across all competitions for the USWNT.
She featured in her fourth FIFA Women’s World Cup while also taking her all-time cap total to 215 and goal total to 121.
At club level, Morgan started in all 19 of her NWSL appearances with the San Diego Wave FC. She totaled seven goals and five assists in 1,629 minutes to help the club finish top of the standings and win the NWSL Shield.
Morgan’s NWSL production earned her Best XI Second Team honors.
Morgan remains a key player in the USWNT squad heading into a 2024 schedule that features the Summer Olympics in Paris and the CONCACAF W Gold Cup.
