Venezia remains in contention for promotion after Gianluca Busio scores winning goal

Gianluca Busio delivers winner as Venezia stays in promotion fight

Last week, Tanner Tessmann played a key role in Venezia’s Serie B victory, and now it was Gianluca Busio’s turn to shine. Busio scored the winning goal in Venezia’s 2-1 away win against Lecco, helping them stay in the promotion race. Alongside Tessmann, Busio played 90 minutes as Venezia remained three points behind second-place Como in the race for automatic promotion to Serie A.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, Venezia mounted a comeback in the second half. Joel Pohjanpalo equalized in the 58th minute, and two minutes later, Busio’s right-footed finish put Venezia ahead 2-1. The team secured their 19th league win of the season, bringing their total points to 64. With four games remaining, Venezia’s promotion hopes are still alive if they maintain performances like the one on Saturday.

Both Busio and Tessmann have been vital contributors to Venezia this season and will be crucial in the upcoming matches. Venezia’s next fixture is against Cremonese on April 26th.
