Venus Williams and Kouame Lead Miami Open Wild Card Selections

The Miami Open has officially revealed its wild card selections for the upcoming 2026 tournament, generating excitement among fans and players alike. Among the distinguished recipients is the legendary Venus Williams, who at 45, continues to defy the odds. A three-time champion at this prestigious event, Williams has been active on the circuit since her comeback last summer in Washington, D.C., and has already competed in five tournaments this season, including Auckland, Hobart, Melbourne, Austin, and Indian Wells. However, she is still searching for her first victory in this new year.

Joining Williams is Sloane Stephens, another prominent figure in women’s tennis and the 2018 Miami champion. Their presence adds a nostalgic touch to the tournament as they go up against the younger generation of players. Other female competitors granted wild cards include Jennifer Brady, Taylor Townsend, Ashlyn Krueger, Lilli Tagger, Darja Vidmanova, and Emerson Jones.

On the men’s side, the wild card recipients include promising talents such as Moise Kouame, who recently celebrated his 17th birthday on March 6. After making his ATP debut at the Montpellier 250 in February, where he qualified for the main draw but faced defeat against Aleksandar Kovacevic in three sets, Kouame has already made waves, winning two Futures titles this year. Other male recipients of wild cards are Yibing Wu, Martin Damm, Darwin Blanch, and Rei Sakamoto.

The 2026 Miami Open will unfold from March 15 to March 29 at the iconic Hard Rock Stadium, promising a blend of seasoned champions and emerging stars as they vie for one of tennis’s most coveted titles. Fans can expect thrilling matches and perhaps some unexpected outcomes as these talented players take to the courts.
