Super Bowl LV was a game to remember. It was a matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a highly anticipated contest. Patrick Mahomes, the new-age quarterback, tried his best to take down a Tom Brady-led Buccaneers team, hoping to continue to make a name for himself early in his career. The Buccaneers ended up winning dominantly, cementing Brady’s legacy if it wasn’t already. While Brady was the Buccaneers quarterback and a major reason for the team’s success, their defense was lauded as one of the best in the NFL. They were able to shut down Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense better than any other team did during the regular season. Vita Vea was one of the primary defenders on that team. He recently appeared on Chris Long’s podcast, “Green Light with Chris Long,” where he revealed a unique part of that Super Bowl.

“I had food poisoning that game,” Vea said, indicating that there were several points during the Super Bowl where he felt like he needed to go to the bathroom.

He recanted a time when he nearly had an accident during a play, but he was able to run off the field and take care of business before things got out of hand. Long seems to get a lot out of athletes during their time on his show, and Vea’s comments were certainly vulnerable. Vea’s honesty is another reminder that NFL athletes are still humans with emotions and bodily functions, something fans can forget during the season.
