The Washington Commanders may have hit the jackpot on first-round quarterback Jayden Daniels.
So far at least, it feels like he is the right player to lead this franchise into the new era.
His veteran teammates absolutely love what they are seeing from the No. 2 overall pick.
Offensive tackle Andrew Wylie recently had this to say to the Washington media about Daniels:
“That dude can sling it, man. Very talented guy back there. Makes it look easy too…He’s always smiling,” Wylie said, per JP Finlay.
It seems like Wylie couldn’t help but smile when talking about the guy that he will be protecting this year.
Nobody knows what Daniels and this team will be this year.
It cannot be much worse than what this team was prior to new head coach Dan Quinn’s arrival.
Washington has not had a winning record since 2016.
They have not won a playoff game since 2005.
Of course, they have not won a Super Bowl since 1991.
It will be an uphill climb, but this team is off to a great start in their rebuild.
They drafted the Heisman-winning quarterback to lead the offense.
Additionally, they added veterans in former Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz and all-purpose running back Austin Ekeler.
Defensively, they signed future first-ballot Hall-of-Famer Bobby Wagner to play middle linebacker.
This team might not be the 1972 Miami Dolphins.
They might not even have a winning record this year.
But, they have assembled a team that can be formidable on both sides of the ball.
If Daniels turns out to be who fans think he will be, the Commanders could be in great shape as time moves on.
