The Tennessee Titans got significantly better in the offseason.

Brian Callahan came with plenty of new faces, and they’re looking forward to competing at the highest level in one of the most improved divisions in the game.

A lot of that has had to do with the fact that they put an emphasis on the defensive side of the field.

Adding CBs L’Jarius Sneed and Chidobe Awuzie should do wonders for their secondary defense, and veteran S Amani Hooker is well aware of that.

In a recent interview for the team’s official website, Hooker talked about having two players like them will make his job easier and will allow him to make a bigger impact in the game (via Around the NFL):

“These guys have proven they can be in the right position to make the plays, and when I’m out there I am able to do my job now, and start searching for plays as they come to me. Knowing you have guys that are aggressive out there, it makes me as a safety have that same mentality that they have and bring it to our defense,” Hooker said.

The Titans traded for Sneed after winning two consecutive Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs, and they signed him to a four-year contract extension right away.

As for Awuzie, they gave him a three-year pact after spending three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Titans were middle-of-the-pack in terms of pass defense last season, which is why it’s not much of a surprise to see them make this aspect of their roster a major area of improvement ahead of the first year of the post-Mike Vrabel era.

Of course, plenty of their success will also hinge on whether Will Levis turns out to be as good as they think he’ll be.
