The Minnesota Vikings have an interesting quarterback situation this season with veteran Sam Darnold serving as the likely starter on a one-year deal as the bridge QB to rookie No. 10 pick and defending national champion J.J. McCarthy.

It’s still early in the process, but one team veteran recently revealed what he has seen so far when it comes to the QB competition.

In an article shared on NFL.com, Vikings safety Camryn Bynum shared some insight into the QB competition and said “They’re both looking really good. It’s exciting to see them compete. They’re both looking good, so I can’t put one over the other. I just say they both look ready.”

It’s a nice endorsement that fans have been waiting to hear about McCarthy, as much of the discussion around him lately has been about him not being ready yet.

Darnold has shown promise in recent years since leaving the New York Jets and could be a surprise contributor now that he is in an enviable situation with a talented offense and a progressive head coach who believes in him.

He has a lot to play for given the fact that he is on a one-year deal, and the stars are aligned for him to be this year’s Baker Mayfield.

As promising as McCarthy is, and he will inevitably be this team’s starting QB at some point, it would be exciting to see a Darnold resurgence and for him to finally make good on the promise that made him a No. 3 overall pick not too long ago.
