The NFL Combine is an odd event: a job fair for young, highly talented athletes who are close to becoming instant millionaires.
This showcase is getting more transparent every year, and the latest insight came through HBO’s acclaimed “Hard Knocks.”
For the first time, the series examines a team’s offseason moves, and this year it focuses on the New York Giants.
Head coach Brian Daboll may face a make-or-break season with New York in his third campaign, coming off a 6-11 performance in 2023.
In the footage, he is shown with LSU’s Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels, who would eventually go to the Washington Commanders with the second overall draft selection.
The NFL posted the fascinating video of Daboll putting Daniels to the test during an interview before this year’s NFL Combine.

The coach put a hypothetical play before Daniels and asked him how he would respond if the defense was in Cover 1.
Daboll responded that the young quarterback gave a “good answer.”
Daniels is an incredibly gifted signal-caller with a golden opportunity to shine for a franchise starving for leadership under center.
He will receive the keys to the nation’s capital if he can somehow vault the Commanders past the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles and back into the NFL playoffs.
Many believe he has the talent to accomplish exactly that.
As for Daboll’s Giants, the team ultimately decided to play their present hand with Daniel Jones leading New York and forego the chance to select a young quarterback near the top of the draft.
