Video: Lisandro Martinez apologizes to Manchester United fans following loss to Tottenham Hotspur – Latest Manchester United News and Transfer Updates

Video: Lisandro Martinez spotted apologising to Man United fans after loss to Tottenham Hotspur - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez was spotted apologising to fans after the club’s humiliating loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

United suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Ange Postecoglou’s men, with Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke all getting on the score sheet.

Johnson opened the scoring just three minutes into the match. Micky van de Ven broke free from his own half, advancing into the United box before delivering a pass to Johnson, who was waiting at the back post and made no mistake from close range.

For Spurs’ second, Martinez was robbed off the ball, allowing Spurs to advance deep into United territory. Kulusevski finished the ensuing move by volleying over a helpless Andre Onana.

Things went from bad to worse for the Red Devils as Solanke reacted the quickest to guide in a ball over the line from a corner routine.

The result has left United in 12th position, with just seven points from their first six games. Erik ten Hag’s men also currently have a -3 goal difference.

Minutes before the match ended, a large number of United supporters could be seen leaving Old Trafford, seemingly fed up with what they saw.

Many more remained behind and a section of them received an apology from Martinez.

In a video that has surfaced on social media, the Argentina international is seen responding to fans by putting his hands hands up and clasping them together in a praying gesture.

Martinez took the captain’s armband from Bruno Fernandes after the Portuguese playmaker was sent off in the first half.

While his gesture may be appreciated in some quarters, the best thing he and his teammates can do to repay United’s loyal fans is simply to play better and not constantly let themselves be outdone by rival teams.

Up next for United is a Europa League meeting with Porto on Thursday.
