The Warriors could have taken down the third-seeded Timberwolves on Sunday night, but instead find themselves dangerously close to missing the Play-In tournament.
Golden State came out firing and were up 54-46 at the half, but gave up 68 points in the second half and panicked the win away in the fourth quarter.
The Warriors are tied with the Spurs for the most losses (13) this season when leading a game by 12 points or more.
No one is more disappointed with the franchise’s form than Steph Curry.
“The NBA is such a weird league,” Curry said after the Warriors’ third loss in five games. “It just takes one little spark to get yourself going. Every team goes through it in a season. You see what Houston’s doing right now. They got one little spark and they ran off whatever it is, eight, nine in a row. We’re capable of doing it until we run out of games. That’s the mindset.”
The Rockets have won eight straight games and that combined with the Warriors’ woes means Houston are back in playoff contention.
“When you have to win and you don’t, it sucks,” Warriors forward Green said after the loss. “In order to win, you have to build good habits. I don’t think we have great habits. Until you play with the great habits at all times, you lose.”
Draymond was asked about if he’s keeping an eye on the standings, specifically the Rockets, to which he replied, “I don’t give a damn about the Rockets.”
But maybe he should give a damn.
Six teams in the West will finish with a record above .500, meaning that Golden State will need to win at least six of their last 12 regular season games to avoid the lottery.
