Wawrinka Launches New Clothing Line During Australian Open

Wawrinka Launches New Clothing Line During Australian Open

Stan Wawrinka‘s tennis is always entertaining to watch, but he also dazzled the Australian Open fans with a new clothing line.

Wawrinka competed at Melbourne for the 18th time this year. That is an incredible number and demonstrates the superb longevity of the 38-year-old throughout his long and very successful career.

The 2014 Australian Open champion could not make it past the opening round though. He battled admirably but ultimately fell in five sets to Adrian Mannarino, who is playing the best tennis of his career.

However, the three-time Grand Slam champion was still feeling positive after the match. Wawrinka said he still plans to return to the Australian Open despite his exit. It would be some feat if he played next year as a 39-year-old.

The Swiss legend may have been playing his 18th Australian Open, but there was something he was doing for the first time: demonstrating his new clothing line on the court during a match.

Wawrinka’s new line of clothing was created in collaboration with his sponsor Yonex. He has been associated with the Japanese sports brand since 2012, and he donned his own new selection for the first time in 11 years.

Wawrinka wore a mostly white outfit. However, there was also a subtle hint of a light pink colored dye to add a very nice touch of brightness to the 38-year-old’s attire.

The outfit is then completed with socks that have ‘Stan the man’ written on them and an extremely slick pair of white shoes that would look very appropriate on the slick grass courts of Wimbledon.

Some thought Wawrinka was among our players who may retire this year, but his rhetoric seems to indicate the opposite. Perhaps he has further types of clothing that he wants to debut at future tournaments in 2024 as well.
