West Ham United show renewed interest in Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Aaron Wan Bissaka's move to Galatasaray "nearing completion" with four-year-deal offered - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whose contract with the club was extended by a year, is attracting plenty of interest with West Ham United the latest side to enter the race.

The right-back has admirers in Italy, Turkey as well as Saudi Arabia while fellow Premier League side Everton have also been linked with a move.

The Hammers had been linked with a move for the former Crystal Palace star multiple times in the past, back when David Moyes was at the helm.

Now, they are expected to return with West Ham even considering the United man as a versatile option due to his deployment on the left flank at times last season.

West Ham back in for AWB

Julen Lopetegui, the new boss, had tried to sign the former England U21 full-back, back when he was the manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers. This indicates how highly he rates the United star.

United consider Wan-Bissaka to be surplus to requirements according to The Times and are open to a sale with Galatasaray’s previous offer falling short of United’s expectations.

“West Ham United have revived their interest in signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is among the versatile right backs on their shortlist.

“The 26-year-old is surplus to requirements at Manchester United, who extended his contract by one year until 2025. Wan-Bissaka made 30 appearances across all competitions for United in the past season.”

The hope is that the London team would put in a satisfactory bid for a player whose contract extension was mainly triggered to protect his market value.

United open to a sale

Manager Erik ten Hag has been looking for a right back from the moment he stepped foot in Old Trafford with the Dutchman preferring Diogo Dalot initially.

The 26-year-old fought back hard in the second half of the 2022/23 season and the hope was that he would kick on and would improve his attacking game.

But injuries and mixed form saw the full-back regress to his former self as he failed to register a single goal with the Portuguese now the de-facto first-choice right-back.

In any case, the Red Devils are expected to take a huge hit on their initial investment of £50 million back in 2019. Wan-Bissaka’s current market value stands at £17 million and INEOS would do well to earn that much from his sale.
