Paco Jemez, the assistant manager at West Ham United, has revealed he would accept the head coach position at his former club, Rayo Vallecano, if it becomes available.

Since his arrival at West Ham earlier this year, Jemez has played a pivotal role in improving the team’s chances of staying in the Premier League. Under the guidance of Nuno Espirito Santo, the Hammers have gained a crucial 12-point lead over Tottenham Hotspur and an eight-point advantage over Nottingham Forest in the fight to avoid relegation.

Potential Move to Rayo Vallecano

Although the 55-year-old is dedicated to assisting West Ham in their battle against relegation, he didn’t shy away from expressing his desire to lead Rayo Vallecano again should the opportunity arise.

During an appearance on SER Podcast, Jemez stated, “If Rayo finds itself without a coach and I believe I’m the right fit, I would get there in half a second!”

When asked if he would consider having Nuno as his assistant should he return to Vallecano, Jemez humorously replied:

“He’d have to return the favor, wouldn’t he?! The day I ask him, he’ll have to return it!”

Jemez has managed Rayo Vallecano twice, from 2012 to 2020, leading them to notable successes, including a remarkable eighth-place finish in La Liga and impressive possession stats, ranking them fourth among Europe’s top leagues, trailing only Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich.

Impact at West Ham

Jemez’s influence at West Ham has been evident, with many considering him the catalyst for the team’s revival. His exceptional work ethic and energetic approach have lifted the spirits within the squad, fostering a belief that they can steer clear of relegation.

While he enjoys his time in London, Jemez is candid that he wouldn’t hesitate if Rayo Vallecano came calling. The Hammers surely appreciate his contributions and hope the Spanish club refrains from pursuing their assistant manager.
