Weston McKennie assists once as Juventus nears Coppa Italia Final berth

Weston McKennie and Juventus are 90 minutes away from reaching the 2023-24 Coppa Italia Final.

McKennie assisted once on Tuesday as Massimiliano Allegri’s squad defeated Lazio 2-0 in their semifinal first leg showdown. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder now has 10 assists for the Old Lady this season across all competitions.

With Juventus pushing for a second goal of the match, McKennie teamed up with Dusan Vlahovic in the 83rd minute. McKennie’s forward pass allowed the Serbian striker the opportunity to drive into the Lazio box before drilling a low shot into the bottom-left corner.

The 2-0 result has Juventus in a prime position to advance to May’s final, should they avoid a shocking second leg loss. Fellow American Tim Weah played nine minutes off the bench while McKennie was substituted off prior to second-half stoppage time.

McKennie created the most chances (2) and completed the most dribbles (2) out of all players in Tuesday’s match. He also won five duels and made one defensive interception.

Juventus resumes Serie A play on Sunday against Fiorentina before matches against Torino and Cagliari.
