Weston McKennie returned to the Juventus starting lineup on Sunday and didn’t miss a beat in a Serie A draw with Atalanta.
McKennie registered two assists in Juventus’ 2-2 home draw with Atalanta, earning Man of the Match honors for his performance. It was McKennie’s first appearance since suffering a dislocated shoulder in February.
Despite going into halftime down 1-0, Juventus would battle back through McKennie’s pair of assists. His first came in the 66th minute as Andrea Cambiaso slotted home in the box before the U.S. men’s national team midfielder added his second helper in quick succession.
McKennie chested down a cross inside of the Atalanta box before watching Arkadiusz Milik rifle home into the bottom-left corner. It marked McKennie’s third multi-assist performance of the campaign.
However, Teun Koopmeiners delivered his second goal of the match to help Atalanta earn one point on the road.
McKennie led all players with five offensive chances created before being substituted off in the 88th minute. Sunday’s performance was a positive sign for the USMNT heading into CONCACAF Nations League action in 11 days.
Juventus first will host Genoa in Serie A play on March 17 before the FIFA international break.
