What is the Jets’ Draft Pick Count?

How Many Picks Do the Jets Have?

The New York Jets looked like a potential Super Bowl contender when they acquired star QB Aaron Rodgers last offseason. Unfortunately, an Achilles tear in Week 1 immediately changed the team’s ability to compete.

How many picks do the Jets have in the 2024 NFL Draft to help build around Rodgers?

How Many Picks Do the Jets Have in 2024?

The Jets entered the offseason with five confirmed draft picks in 2024. They surrendered their 2024 second-round pick to the Green Bay Packers to finish the Rodgers trade. New York dealt their fifth-round selection to Denver for Jacob Martin and their seventh-round pick to Baltimore for Chuck Clark.

They received Denver’s fourth-rounder back in the Martin deal in November 2022. Meanwhile, the Jets are set to bolster their 2024 NFL Draft bounty with multiple compensatory picks, taking their total selections to seven.

Upon the release of the compensatory picks, the Jets received three selections (6.218, 7.256, 7.257).

They traded one of those selections in addition to their fourth-round pick (No. 113) to the Ravens in exchange for former tackle Morgan Moses and the Ravens fourth-round pick (No. 135). New York also traded former starting QB Zach Wilson to the Denver Broncos in a late-round pick swap, moving pick No. 256 and Wilson to Denver for a sixth-round pick (203).

Who Did the Jets Draft in 2023?

The Jets selected Iowa State DE Will McDonald IV, who had been gaining momentum right up to the draft. McDonald seldom played as a rookie, but he did record four sacks despite playing fewer than 200 snaps.

In Round 2, New York grabbed Wisconsin center Joe Tippmann, who quickly earned the starting job after Connor McGovern suffered an injury and saw action in 14 games.

The Jets did not pick again until the fourth round, when they selected Pitt offensive tackle Carter Warren. Warren played perhaps more than expected, seeing over 100 snaps at left tackle and nearly 300 at right tackle.

The Jets followed up with another Pitt player in the fifth round, selecting running back Israel Abanikanda. Playing behind Breece Hall, Michael Carter, and Dalvin Cook for much of the season, Abanikanda didn’t get much run as a rookie, garnering just over 100 yards from scrimmage in 2023.

New York picked twice in Round 6 and used both picks on defensive players: Western Michigan linebacker Zaire Barnes and LSU DB Jarrick Bernard-Converse. Both spent most of their seasons serving on special teams.

The Jets’ final selection was used to draft Old Dominion TE Zack Kuntz. Kuntz was only active for one game, during New York’s final Week 18 game against the New England Patriots.
