For the first time in league history, six quarterbacks were taken in the first round of the NFL Draft, with Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Michael Penix Jr., J.J. McCarthy and Bo Nix getting the nod with six of their first 12 picks this year.

Although all the attention moving forward is on Williams with the Chicago Bears, Daniels starting his career with the Washington Commanders and the New England Patriots bringing in Maye, the three other quarterbacks are also in interesting situations.

However, most of the time, when a talented young quarterback gets drafted, he has to sit for a year or two before getting the nod from the head coach, but that might not be the case for Nix with the Denver Broncos.

Despite reports of Zach Wilson being impressive during minicamp, the consensus is that Nix will be the Week 1 starter over Wilson and Jarrett Stidham, as he’s been dubbed the perfect fit for head coach Sean Payton, which former NFL star Mark Schlereth echoed on The Jim Rome Show.

Only time will tell how things pan out for the Broncos over the course of the offseason, but training camp will be telling for Denver, as Nix could become the talk of the town as Payton’s new project.

The Broncos will get their season underway on September 8 on the road against the Seattle Seahawks.
