Which USWNT goal was the SSFC Goal of the Year?

The United States Women’s National Team have completed their 2023, and as we look back at the year, we want to do the same as the men and vote for the best goal of the year! The USWNT scored 36 goals in 2023, from Mallory Swanson’s first goal against New Zealand to Jaedyn Shaw’s gamewinner against China. From there, we have narrowed it down to 10 finalists, and we will then see what the community thinks is 2023’s best.

Mallory Swanson 1/18 vs. New Zealand (1st goal)

Mallory Swanson opened up the year’s scoring account for the USWNT with a great goal that was set up by a great pass by Trinity Rodman.

Mallory Swanson 2/16 vs. Canada

Mallory Swanson opened up scoring against Canada in the 2023 SheBelieves Cup with a tremendous goal, continuing her torrid pace to start the season.

Alana Cook 4/11 vs. Ireland

Alana Cook may have meant to pass, she may have meant to shoot. But her goal against Ireland was from long distance and caught everyone by surprise.

Trinity Rodman 7/9 vs. Wales (2nd goal)

Trinity Rodman’s second goal against Wales was one that you can have on repeat and be totally happy.

Sophia Smith 7/22 vs. Vietnam (1st goal)

Sophia Smith’s first Women’s World Cup goal, and the opener for the USWNT, against Vietnam was set up by a tremendous flick pass by Alex Morgan.

Lindsey Horan 7/27 vs. Netherlands

Lindsey Horan’s goal against the Netherlands in the 2nd group stage match of the Women’s World Cup is even better considering that she got into a scrap just seconds earlier and got her revenge on the scoreboard.

Trinity Rodman 9/24 vs. South Africa

Trinity Rodman had another one, combining with a nice Alex Morgan cross to crush a volley home against South Africa.

Mia Fishel 10/29 vs. Colombia

Mia Fishel’s first goal was a great one, as she gave the USWNT the lead against Colombia with a scorching header for her first USWNT goal.

Lindsey Horan 10/29 vs. Colombia

Lindsey Horan’s goal was just as great, with her catching a volley and sending a ferocious shot into the back of the net.

Jaedyn Shaw 12/5 vs. China

The game-winner for the USWNT against China was a buzzer, as Jaedyn Shaw had a golazo to beat China.

Now, it’s your time to cast your vote! We’ll make the results known on Friday, so pick which goal you thought was the best and then discuss your choice in the comments!
