With a horrible 17-51 record, the Chicago White Sox are arguably the worst team in baseball. They have the worst record in the league and look every bit as bad as you would imagine. There aren’t really too many potential players they could trade and get a haul for in return, but one of them is definitely Luis Robert Jr. The All-Star outfielder hasn’t really had his best year to this point. After just a handful of games, he suffered a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain in early-April and was forced to miss roughly two months. He recently returned from the injured list, but even with the rust accumulated due to his extended absence, there has been no shortage of teams approaching the White Sox about the prospect of acquiring the talented center fielder in a trade. “There are at least SIX Luis Robert Jr. suitors, per @JonHeyman: NL- Dodgers, Phillies and Braves. AL- Royals, Mariners and Blue Jays,” B/R Walk-Off tweeted, with information from MLB insider Jon Heyman.

Robert is slashing .182/.237/.491 with a .728 OPS, but he has just 55 at-bats due to the hip issue. His numbers will surely improve as the season goes on, and he remains a young, exciting building block capable of hitting 38 home runs and stealing 20 bases, like he did last year when he went to his first All-Star Game. A Gold Glove (2020) and a Silver Slugger award (2023) also decorate his resume. The three National League powerhouses, the Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Philadelphia Phillies, are all reportedly after Robert. The Braves have the most glaring need for him, since their offense has tanked this year. Of the AL teams, the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays absolutely need a player with his profile, but his impact on the Kansas City Royals would be just as large. We will have to wait to see who wins the Robert sweepstakes, if the White Sox decide to flip him to another club.
