As if more suspense was needed at PGA Tour Q-school.
Heavy rain on Saturday night in Florida caused play to be postponed from Sunday until Monday.
The PGA Tour reported that nearly five inches of rain fell at Dye’s Valley Course and nearly four inches fell at Sawgrass Country Club between 3 pm on Saturday and 6 am on Sunday.
This means the final round will be played in three-balls off two tees on both courses from 8.45 am to 11.01 am local time in the same groups that were intended for Sunday.
“Unfortunately, both golf courses are currently unplayable and require extensive maintenance work due to overnight rainfall,” chief referee Harold Geyer said on Sunday.
“The golf courses received more than 4 inches of rain overnight, and today’s forecast includes additional rainfall.
“Due to expected playing conditions and the anticipation of further delays, the decision to postpone the final round was made within the rules and regulations, which allows us to finish on Monday.”
The final stage is tough, with only the top five and ties making it to the PGA Tour out of 165 hopefuls. The next 40 players will earn guaranteed Korn Ferry Tour status.
The next 20 players after that will earn conditional status on the PGA Tour Americas. There is much to play for in this heavily delayed event.
