Wide Receiver Prospect Reveals Panthers’ Intent to Draft Him if Available

The midfield logo at Bank of America Stadium is seen prior to the game between the New York Jets and the Carolina Panthers on September 12, 2021 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In his first year as head coach of the Carolina Panthers, Dave Canales has been tasked with reviving the team’s winning culture. Part of his mission includes developing second-year quarterback Bryce Young into a more successful NFL player. To achieve this goal, Canales, along with GM Dan Morgan and owner David Tepper, are focused on providing Young with more offensive weapons.

The Panthers already have veteran receiver Adam Thielen and acquired Pro Bowl receiver Diontae Jonson earlier in the offseason. Now, the team is looking to bolster their offense by adding talented prospects in the upcoming draft. South Carolina receiver Xavier Legette has emerged as a favorite for the Panthers during the pre-draft process. In an interview with USA Today’s John Crumpler, Legette revealed that he has had multiple meetings with the Panthers and is hopeful they will select him.

Legette possesses the physical attributes to excel as a pass-catcher in the NFL, standing tall at 6-3 and weighing nearly 230 pounds while still maintaining impressive 4.3 speed. Despite the depth of this year’s wide receiver class, Legette has the potential to make a significant impact alongside Young in Carolina’s offense.
