Will Kyren Williams or Chris Olave Find the End Zone This Week?

The Week 16 Thursday Night Football clash between the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams could provide some clarity around the NFC playoff picture, but who will be the players to find the end zone for those all-important touchdowns? Our NFL betting experts provide their picks and insight into which touchdown scorer bets they like this week.

New Orleans Saints vs. Los Angeles Rams Touchdown Scorer Bets

Kyren Williams to Score 2+ Touchdowns (+270 at FanDuel)

Bearman: Telling you that Kyren Williams (-210) is going to score a TD would fall in the category of a Captain Obvious play, hence the -210 price tag. So, let’s double down and play him to score two TDs, which is a nice +240 price tag. Why? Well, the Saints are one of the worst rush defenses in the league, allowing 4.54 yards per rush, which is 27th in the NFL.

They have a very good pass defense, which will at some point force HC Sean McVay to run the ball. Williams’ carries have gone up each game since he returned from injured reserve — from 16 to 21 to 25, and most recently, 27 last week. He’s a threat to catch a dump-off in the backfield, too. Feel free to lay -210 on one score, but if want some more value, let’s play two.

Chris Olave (+200 at DraftKings)

Soppe: New Orleans’ top receiver has seen seven red-zone targets over his past seven games and leads the league in air yards. The former statistic is straight forward as to why I find Olave appealing in this market, and the latter gives us access to some splash play potential with the Rams owning the second-highest opponent aDOT this season.

As long as Olave can overcome the ankle injury that cost him Week 15, I think he has a good chance to score for the fourth time in six games and double our bet.

Taysom Hill (+210 at FanDuel)

Katz: Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment, but anytime I can get +200 or better on Taysom Hill to score, I have to do it.

Hill played just 19% of the snaps last week; it was his lowest snap share since Week 1. Is this the Saints moving away from Hill as having a key role in the offense? I don’t know. If it is, then this will end up being a bad bet.

I just can’t help but wonder if Olave’s absence forced them to make some wholesale adjustments that impacted everyone on the field. With Olave back, this offense should look more normal. If they get inside the five-yard line, Hill should get a chance.

Rashid Shaheed (+340 at DraftKings)

Rolfe: The Saints’ offense is on its knees in terms of resources right now, but they remain in the playoff hunt and need their weapons to step up. Touchdowns could be slim on the ground for the Saints’ offense, but they are going up against an L.A. defense that allowed three passing touchdowns last week to the Washington Commanders.

Over the past four weeks, only two teams have given up more passing touchdowns to opposing wide receivers than the Rams. Shaheed could very well be the Saints’ top wide receiver in this game after returning from injury last week.

New Orleans could look for creative ways to get the ball into Shaheed’s hands in a game they could be trailing in for the second half. We saw the Rams give up two garbage-time touchdowns last week, so even if this gets out of hand, there could still be some late scores.

Jimmy Graham (+500 at ESPNBet) and Juwan Johnson (+600 at ESPNBet)

Rolfe: The Saints have thrown four touchdowns to tight ends in the past three weeks. TE Jimmy Graham has three touchdowns in the last three games, and TE Juwan Johnson joined the fun last week. With concerns among the WR options, the tight ends should continue to be a big part of the offense, especially around the red zone.

The Rams have allowed seven touchdowns to tight ends in 14 games this season. Last week, Washington’s Logan Thomas found the end zone in the fourth quarter, but it was negated by a penalty. There is a vulnerability there, and the odds here are good enough that you could split your stake and get a solid return if either hits.
