Wilson releases two brand new premium golf balls for 2024

Wilson

The renowned Wilson Sporting Goods Co. has introduced two new premium golf balls under the branding of the Wilson Staff Model and the Wilson Staff Model X.

Both balls are part of the so-called ‘Wilson Staff’ range which are aimed at tour professionals and serious players.

These new balls for tour professionals, amateurs and the best of the rest feature cutting-edge technology.

The new balls both sport a four-piece construction made up of the ZnPCTP boosted rubber core for velocity, a soft HPF inner mantle intended to control driver spin, a firm ionomer outer mantle that is designed to offer maximum velocity and a thin (0.025-inch) cast urethane cover designed for high iron spin.

The Wilson Staff Model ball is designed for golfers who require a lower spin and better performance than many softer urethane balls. The Staff Model ball features a 10-point lower core compression for a softer feel and lower spin rate than the Staff Model X.

“Through our internal testing, both Staff Model and Staff Model X yield faster ball speeds than any other urethane golf ball in their respective class,” said Frank Simonutti, Global Director of Golf Ball Innovation.

“Elite golfers looking for higher velocity and spin will benefit from the ‘X’ ball while the new Staff Model ball will be the perfect choice for golfers who generate enough spin on their own.”

Wilson is one of several top golfing brands intent on pushing the market leaders whom many fix as the big four brands of golf in the form of Callaway, Titleist, Ping and TaylorMade.

Those top four brands account for the bulk of equipment used on the professional tours and are attached to the top players as sponsors.

However, in January 2024, professional golfers Kevin Kisner and Trey Mullinax signed up for Team Wilson.

Wilson’s Golf Advisory Staff also boasts a deep roster of DP World Tour players, including Marc Hammer and Alexander Knappe.

Hammer and Knappe join Benjamin Herbert, Joakim Lagergren, David Law, Hurly Long, Craig Mackie, Jack Senior, Paul Waring, and Andrew Wilson, as well as Paul Lawrie on the Legends Tour and Sanna Nuutinen on the Ladies European Tour.

“As Wilson continues to grow in golf, we are excited to have Kevin and Trey join the Wilson team,” says Tim Clarke, President of Wilson Golf. “More players are putting Wilson golf equipment into play on worldwide professional tours every week, and we are excited to support their efforts in achieving their goals.”
