NBA insider Brian Windhorst has suggested that the Los Angeles Lakers are considering appointing JJ Redick as their new head coach, a sentiment echoed by Shams Charania.

Windhorst mentioned on ESPN’s Get Up show that, “Do I think it’s going to be JJ [Redick]? Probably. Is it going to happen at the end of the finals? Probably. Is it a done deal? Not to my understanding.”

In-person conversations with the team only included Redick and New Orleans Pelicans assistant coach James Borrego, according to Windhorst.

While Redick has not confirmed the reports, he has hinted at potential developments after the NBA Finals, where he currently works as a commentator, aligning with Windhorst’s statements.

Redick’s comments suggest that there could be important updates regarding his career soon.

The Lakers are reportedly narrowing down their search for a head coach, with Redick emerging as a top candidate despite his lack of coaching experience.

Redick’s reputation and potential have caught the attention of Lakers officials, who are also considering other candidates, including experienced assistants from different NBA teams.
