Following a 21-15 defeat to the Giants in Week 3, the Browns have begun the 2024 season with a 1-2 record. The season kicked off with a 33-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 at home. In Week 2, Cleveland secured an 18-13 victory on the road against the Jaguars. Week 3 saw the Browns back at home facing a winless Giants team.
New York’s fumble on the opening kickoff was recovered by the Browns, leading to a touchdown pass caught by Amaro Cooper on their first play. However, the Giants responded with 21 unanswered points, and the Browns’ offense struggled. Deshaun Watson endured eight sacks in Week 3 due to injuries plaguing the Browns’ offensive line. Pro Bowl guard Wyatt Teller sustained a knee injury during the game and is expected to be sidelined for approximately four weeks.

Wyatt Teller was chosen by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2018 draft from Virginia Tech. After spending one season with Buffalo, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns. Teller, 29, has played six seasons with the Browns, appearing in 78 games and making 71 starts. Since 2020, he has been a full-time starter. With Teller now out, the Browns are facing significant challenges on the offensive line.
In addition to Teller’s injury, the Browns have six other offensive linemen sidelined. Hakeem Adeniji and Luke Wypler are on the IR. In Week 3, James Hudon and starting LT Jedrick Wills Jr. also sustained injuries. Starting RT Jack Conklin missed the game with a knee injury. Teller’s absence for four weeks will be a major blow to the Browns’ offensive line. By the end of the Giants game, Joel Bitonio was playing LT, Ethan Pocic was at LG, and Nick Harris had to step in at center. Cleveland’s offensive line is severely hampered by injuries at the moment, a fact that was evident in their Week 3 performance.
