The New York Yankees are on a tear and have now moved into a tie with the Baltimore Orioles atop the AL East after winning four in a row behind a stretch of strong performances on the mound.

Another subplot of this early season so far is that the Yankees have now proven to have the upper hand against a long-standing rival that has gotten the best of them quite a few times in recent years.

Talkin’ Yanks shared a post on Twitter to highlight that the Yankees have now won eight games in a row against the Houston Astros after their 10-3 victory on Tuesday.

The Yankees opened their 2024 season with a 4-game sweep in Houston and hung seven runs on Justin Verlander last night over five innings of work.

A good sign for Yankees fans is that Aaron Judge is starting to pick things up over the past week after having just a .197 batting average through May 2.

Juan Soto has a .996 OPS and is an early favorite for AL MVP and fellow newcomer Alex Verdugo has also picked it up with an .812 OPS, including a 3-run homer off of Verlander in the first inning last night.

Perhaps most importantly, AL Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole is starting to think about a return, which would elevate the entire pitching staff even though all five members of the starting rotation currently have an ERA under 3.75.

The Yanks aren’t showing any signs of slowing down soon and are beginning to look like early favorites to win the American League.
