Young prodigy Chido Obi-Martin impresses Man United fans in return to the pitch after three-month absence – Manchester United updates on player performance and transfers

Man United fan "deeply ashamed" as he's fined and banned for tragedy chanting in clash vs. Liverpool - Man United News And Transfer News

Goalscoring sensation Chido Obi-Martin unsurprisingly found the back of the net in his first match in three months, giving Manchester United fans a glimpse of what to expect from him.

Obi-Martin has emerged as one of the best young strikers at youth level in Europe, following a stellar campaign with Arsenal’s U18s that saw him plunder a mind-boggling 32 goals in 18 games.

The 16-year-old bagged five hat-tricks in the final nine games of the Under-18 Premier League season last term. His tally included a seven-goal haul in a nine-goal thrashing of Norwich.

He followed that up by registering five goals as Arsenal beat West Ham 8-1.

It’s believed that Obi-Martin rejected offers from Arsenal in favour of sealing a sensational switch to United. The youngster attracted overtures both from other English clubs and abroad but he ultimately decided to join the Red Devils.

He already had his medical at Carrington and all that is remaining before he can officially be considered a United player is the final approval from the Premier League.

While awaiting for his transfer to get over the line, Obi-Martin has been unable to train or play with United.

The youngster was however very lucky to be named in Denmark’s U18s squad during the ongoing international break.

On Saturday, Obi-Martin got a taste of the action as Denmark U18s beat Norway U18s in a 5-3 victory.

Obi-Martin found the back of the net as he grabbed Denmark’s fifth of the match. He didn’t start the match and was only thrust into the action in the 57th minute as he replaced Ajax starlet Lasse Abildgaard.

Just 30 minutes later after his introduction, Obi-Martin demonstrated his sharpness and eye for goal as he extended his side’s lead, to ensure there was little to no chance of Norway mounting a comeback.

The teenager showed United fans what he will bring to the table at the club and they will certainly be hoping that the FA give the green light soon so he can link up with his new teammates at Carrington.

Denmark U18 boss Morten Eskesen recently said about the player, “His greatest competence is that he scores many goals.”

“If you saw some of the goals at the European Championships… he’s a really good finisher and positional so he gets free for that.”

“He is also good man-to-man. He is good at running in depth in relation to getting into free positions. His finishing skills are what allow him to score so many goals.”

“One is to get the chances – number two is to score. There he is above average and that is what makes him so interesting.”
