Tennis legend Martina Navratilova recently praised Carlos Alcaraz for his “complete” game.
Alcaraz has already achieved remarkable success in his young career, surpassing the dreams of his contemporaries. His on-court accomplishments are not the only impressive aspect; his playing style also stands out.
Known as one of the most exciting young talents on the men’s tour, former World No. 1 Andy Murray admitted his love for watching Alcaraz play. Since rising to fame at the Rio Open in 2020 at just 16 years old, Alcaraz has enjoyed a rapid ascent.
At 20 years old, Alcaraz has already claimed two Grand Slam titles and five Masters 1000 titles. Heading to this year’s Madrid Open as the defending champion, he is considered one of the favorites.
Often compared to tennis legends like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, Alcaraz is believed to embody qualities of all three champions by several analysts.
Navratilova, a trailblazer and icon in tennis, praised Alcaraz’s versatility and ability to elevate the game during the Laureus Sports Awards in Madrid.
“I have to say that Carlos (Alcaraz) is so complete. Djokovic is incredible, but Alcaraz takes tennis to a different level because he improvises better than anyone else.”
Reflecting on last year’s Wimbledon final between Djokovic and Alcaraz, Navratilova described it as one of the most thrilling matches she had witnessed, highlighting Alcaraz’s stunning victory over the reigning champion.
“Wimbledon has given us matches for history, but I think last year’s final between Alcaraz and Djokovic was the most exciting I have ever seen.”
