Professional golfer Will Zalatoris was forced to withdraw from the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic during the third round due to a back injury. Zalatoris had a strong start with a 6-under 66 in the opening round on Thursday, followed by a 1-under effort on Friday. However, he struggled on Moving Day, being 3 over through eight holes before making the decision to withdraw from the tournament.
In April 2023, Zalatoris underwent back surgery after withdrawing from the Masters, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season. He made his comeback at Tiger Woods’ Hero World Challenge in December 2023. The initial back injury occurred at the 2022 BMW Championship.
Prior to the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Zalatoris had participated in 15 events and achieved three top-10 finishes: T-2 at the Genesis Invitational, T-4 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and T-9 at the Masters. However, he had not secured a top-40 finish since the Masters at Augusta National.
