Coming into the 2023 NFL season, all the talk about the Baltimore Ravens in terms of the passing game was centered around the team’s addition of superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who was close with superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson and was expected to do big things on his new team.

Unfortunately for Beckham, it was another disappointing season for him as he continued to battle with injury issues, which resulted in him playing in 14 games and catching only 35 passes for 565 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Even though Beckham turned out to be a nonfactor for Jackson and the Ravens offense, the team was pleasantly surprised by the emergence of rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers, who turned out to be much better than expected and quickly became a favorite target of Jackson’s in the passing game.

Flowers finished his rookie campaign with 77 catches for 858 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, and that success on the field carried over to the NFL playoffs, where he caught nine passes for 156 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Heading into his second season in the NFL, Flowers knows precisely what he wants to work on in order to get better in 2024 via the Ravens’ Twitter account.

“Probably deep passes—probably more deep passes. I feel like I can go get them. Like, if they’re in the air, I can go get them,” Flowers said.

With Jackson and Flowers already on the same page heading into his sophomore season with the Ravens, there’s a good chance he can make another leap forward and become that deep threat that he wants to be.

If Flowers does become a deep threat, the Ravens’ offense will be that much more dangerous on a weekly basis, improving the team’s chance of winning it all next season.
