Zendejas and Schulte honored with spots on CONCACAF Champions Cup Best XI squad

Alex Zendejas, Club America win Clausura title

The CONCACAF Champions Cup Best XI includes two notable omissions from the recent U.S. men’s national team roster.

Alex Zendejas was selected for the Best XI after helping Club America reach the tournament semifinals. Zendejas impressed with five goals and two assists in eight Champions Cup matches for Club America.

Despite his strong performance for Liga MX champions Club America, the 26-year-old Zendejas did not earn a call-up to the USMNT’s June roster.

Patrick Schulte, a key member of last year’s MLS Cup-winning Columbus Crew team, also made the Best XI. Schulte’s standout performances in MLS NEXT Pro earned him the starting goalkeeper role last season, leading to his debut for the senior USMNT against Slovenia in January.

Tournament Golden Boot winner Salomon Rondon, with nine goals, was also named in the Best XI, alongside Columbus Crew players Schulte, Yevhen Cheberko, and Diego Rossi. Schulte was recognized as the Goalkeeper of the Tournament for his 36 saves during the competition.

Oussama Idrissi of Pachuca stood out as one of the top playmakers in the tournament, providing six assists for his team.

Pachuca claimed victory in the final by defeating Columbus 3-0, with Rondon scoring twice and Miguel Emilio Rodriguez also getting on the scoresheet.

Here is the complete Champions Cup Best XI list:

GK – Patrick Schulte
DEF – Yevhen Cheberko, Igor Lichnovsky, Bryan Gonzalez.
MID – Nelson Deossa, Emilio Rodriguez, Diego Valdes, Diego Rossi.
FOR – Alex Zendejas, Salomon Rondon, Oussama Idrissi.
