Zheng Qinwen and Pere Riba Will Reunite in 2024

Zheng Qinwen and Pere Riba Will Reunite in 2024

Pere Riba, who helped coach Coco Gauff to her first major title at this year’s US Open, then parted ways with the American due to personal reasons, will reunite with China’s Zheng Qinwen in 2024.

“Reunited after some time apart, ready to embark on the journey together and prepare for the upcoming year,” Zheng posted on social media.

Zheng and Riba commenced their first partnership in 2021, and had much success before splitting prior to Roland-Garros this year. Zheng was named the WTA’s Newcomer of the Year in 2022 after debuting at all four majors with victories that season, including a run to the second week at Roland-Garros.

Following the split, Zheng hired Wim Fissette and won her maiden title at Palermo before reaching the quarterfinals at the US Open – her best Grand Slam performance to date.

But a controversial split saw Fissette partner with Naomi Osaka, who will make her comeback in 2024, and left Zheng coachless for a spell.

The 21-year-old Chinese finished the season ranked at No.15 in the world.
