Frequently Asked Questions about the RBC Heritage
When and where will the RBC Heritage take place?
The 2024 edition of the RBC Heritage will take place between April 18-21, and will be played (as always) at Harbor Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Who won last season’s RBC Heritage?
England’s Matt Fitzpatrick took the title at Harbor Town in 2023, defeating defending champion Jordan Spieth in a playoff. It was an emotional win for the Englishman, who revealed that Hilton Head Island was a regular holiday spot for him and his family throughout his childhood.
What is the history around the RBC Heritage?
The RBC Heritage is one of the older events on the PGA Tour, dating back to its inaugural edition in 1969, where Arnold Palmer was victorious. Ever since its inception as a PGA Tour, Harbor Town Golf Links has played host to the tournament. The event has gone through several name changes due to sponsorship, but it has always been known as the Heritage Classic. RBC came on board as the title sponsor for the 2012 edition. Davis Love III won this tournament five times throughout his career, with victories stretching from 1987 to 2003. He is one of several multiple-time winners of the competition. Hale Irwin and Stewart Cink have both won at Harbor Town three times, while Johnny Miller, Hubert Green, Tom Watson, Fuzzy Zoeller, Payne Stewart, Boo Weekley and Jim Furyk have all been victorious on two occasions.
How do golfers qualify to play at Harbor Town?
With the event being one of the eight Signature Events on the 2024 PGA Tour schedule, there is a smaller field at Harbor Town this week. Only 70 players will take the course come Thursday morning. There were several ways of getting into the field, with players in the following categories in the field:
Top 50 on the FedEx Cup Standings for 2023
Aon Next 10 (the ten highest ranked players on the 2024 FedEx Cup Standings, not already exempt)
Aon Swing 5 (the top five points earners from the four previous full-field events, that were not already exempt)
PGA Tour winners in 2024 (not including additional events)
Top 30 in the Official World Golf Rankings
