Alcaraz Withdraws from French Open Following Wrist Injury

Carlos Alcaraz, the talented young Spaniard and world number two, has officially withdrawn from both the Rome Masters and the French Open due to a wrist injury sustained earlier this clay-court season. This announcement was made via Alcaraz’s social media, where he expressed his deep disappointment regarding the situation.

Following a series of medical evaluations, Alcaraz and his team concluded that it was essential to err on the side of caution. He stated, “After the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that the most prudent thing to do is to be cautious and not participate in Rome or Roland Garros as we wait to evaluate the progress so we can decide when to return to court. This is a difficult time for me, but I am sure we will come out of it stronger.”

Alcaraz has been a standout performer on the ATP Tour, particularly at Roland Garros, where he has won the tournament for the past two years, defeating notable players such as Alexander Zverev in 2024 and Jannik Sinner in 2025. His absence from this year’s event is particularly significant, as he was well-positioned to defend his title.

The 20-year-old initiated his clay season with a strong showing, reaching the finals in Monte-Carlo before falling to Sinner. He also played in Barcelona but was forced to withdraw after advancing one round, citing issues with his wrist. As Alcaraz focuses on recovery, the tennis community eagerly awaits his return to the court and hopes to see one of the sport’s brightest stars back in action soon.
