On Thursday, Bill Belichick’s epic 24-year run as the head coach of the New England Patriots came to an end.

It was a move many had been expecting for several weeks, and the organization will now move forward with Jerod Mayo, a highly regarded assistant over the last few years, taking over for Belichick.

Even though Belichick is in his early 70s, it’s very hard to imagine him retiring, especially since he’s within striking distance of surpassing the great Don Shula for the most career wins in NFL history by a head coach.

Analyst Mina Kimes says the Seattle Seahawks, who just parted ways with longtime head coach Pete Carroll, should hire Belichick, although she added that she doesn’t think it would happen, per Cigar Thoughts.

Last season, the Seahawks surpassed expectations after trading franchise quarterback Russell Wilson and made the playoffs, as replacement QB Geno Smith had an excellent year and led the league in pass completion percentage.

While they finished with the same 9-8 record this season, they will not take part in the playoffs, and Smith’s production came down to earth, as he threw 10 fewer touchdown passes.

Seattle does have a nice wide receiver duo in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett and some very capable players on defense, including rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon, who was named to the Pro Bowl.

As Kimes pointed out, Belichick, who is regarded as a master tactician on defense, could fix a Seattle defense that ranked 25th in points allowed in 30th in total yards allowed.
