Liverpool Eyes Robin Roefs Amid Alisson Becker Interest from Juventus
Liverpool may be on the verge of losing goalkeeper Alisson Becker to Juventus this summer and is targeting Robin Roefs as his potential replacement.
The club has shown interest in the Sunderland shot-stopper previously, and current reports suggest that their pursuit is now more serious and intensifying.

Previously, when I reported on the possibility of Alisson’s departure from Liverpool, it was indicated that there were no immediate plans for his replacement. Giorgi Mamardashvili was mentioned as a candidate to take over if Alisson moved on.
It’s important to note that Liverpool prefers to retain Alisson. However, sources have confirmed that the club is still considering other goalkeepers, with Roefs being highly regarded within Anfield.
Increasing Interest in Robin Roefs
Despite some mixed signals, a reliable source has informed me that Liverpool is escalating their interest in Roefs, particularly in anticipation of rival interest from Chelsea.
Chelsea is also keen on the 23-year-old Dutch keeper and is in search of a new goalkeeper this summer as they look to replace the underperforming Robert Sanchez.
Although Mike Maignan has been rumored to be a target for Chelsea, sources have indicated that those discussions aren’t currently concrete since the French goalkeeper recently signed a new contract with AC Milan.
“Roefs has garnered a lot of attention due to his performances at Sunderland,” one insider stated. “Liverpool is open to acquiring a new goalkeeper if Alisson departs, and Roefs is a strong candidate. Chelsea will be in the mix, but Liverpool wants to secure him first.”
What Lies Ahead for Robin Roefs?
This situation remains fluid, and if Alisson chooses to stay at Liverpool, it could hinder Roefs’ transfer to the club, potentially paving the way for Chelsea to acquire him.
Nevertheless, Juventus’s interest in Alisson is genuine and appears to be gaining momentum, setting the stage for an interesting transfer saga.
At this point, it remains unclear whether Roefs intends to leave Sunderland. However, various reports suggest that Sunderland would consider offers starting at around £35 million for the Dutch Under-21 international.
Chelsea’s need for a new first-choice goalkeeper is evident, but Roefs might be inclined to wait for more appealing offers, particularly given Chelsea’s challenging season and the likelihood of them missing out on European competition.
