Draymond Green is now just two technical fouls away from a suspension in the playoffs, after receiving a tech during a dead-ball situation in a 117–93 win against the Timberwolves in Game 2.
The technical occurred when Green flailed his arms after being fouled by Naz Reid.
Reid fell, the play went to review, and officials called a personal foul on Reid and a technical on Green. Lead referee Tony Brothers stated that Green’s contact was unnecessary and that he was trying to sell the foul a bit too hard.

He didn’t speak at the postgame podium but did express his feelings in the locker room, making it clear he feels targeted by the league and officials.
“I’m sick of the agenda to make me look like the angry Black man. I’m not an angry Black man,” Green said. “I’m a very successful, educated Black man with a great family. And I’m great at basketball, I’m great at what I do. The agenda to try to keep making me look like an angry Black man is crazy. I’m sick of it. It’s ridiculous.”
After that, he walked out of the locker room.
Draymond didn’t hide his frustration with the call at the time.
His teammate Steph Curry, who is currently sidelined due to injury, came down the sideline to try and calm him down.
Coach Steve Kerr eventually pulled Green from the game, a smart decision, as one more technical could have led to his ejection.
Kerr believes that Draymond will exercise caution in the next game.
“He’s going to have to be careful. He’s going to have to stay composed and I’m confident he will because he knows the consequences,” Kerr said.
This was Green’s fifth technical foul in just nine playoff games. He will incur a one-game suspension if he reaches seven. Additionally, he has two flagrant fouls so far; four would result in another automatic suspension.
