For the first time in many years, there is lots of optimism and even excitement surrounding the Chicago Bears.

The long-suffering franchise drafted quarterback Caleb Williams, who is considered a generational talent, with the No. 1 pick in last month’s draft, and he will have some weapons at his disposal right away.

Those weapons include six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen, whom the Bears signed in free agency, and Rome Odunze, whom they took with the No. 9 pick.

Joy Taylor said on FS1’s “Speak” that she feels the ceiling for Williams and the Bears this coming season is not only making the playoffs, but winning a playoff game.

The Bears had the No. 1 pick in last year’s draft, but they shipped it off to the Carolina Panthers for multiple draft picks and wide receiver DJ Moore.

While some questioned the wisdom of that trade at the time, no one is questioning it now, as one of those picks Chicago received turned out to be the one they used on Williams a couple of weeks ago.

In addition to what looks like a very talented offense, they also have a young and promising defense, which includes Pro Bowl defensive lineman Montez Sweat, who they traded for last season.

The NFC North should be very competitive, with the Minnesota Vikings looking like a potential playoff team as well after drafting QB J.J. McCarthy and the Green Bay Packers being on an upward trajectory.

But the Bears appear to have what they need in order to come out of a potential divisional battle with a postseason berth.
