Liverpool is aiming to strengthen their midfield with a focus on physicality and defense, and they have set their sights on Mamadou Sangare. The club has been closely monitoring the talents of the Lens player and may initiate a transfer during the summer window, as reported by TEAMtalk.
Manchester United is also showing interest in Sangare, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur being linked to the player as well.
Sangare’s Arrival Could Free Up Gravenberch
Bringing in Sangare would bolster Liverpool’s midfield and provide Ryan Gravenberch the freedom to play more offensively. Gravenberch has primarily filled a defensive role, but he excels in a more central position.
This season, Sangare leads Ligue 1 with 194 possession wins and 154 successful ground duels. He also ranks high in final third interceptions and tackles, as well as successful dribbles per 90 minutes.
Persuading Sangare to join Liverpool shouldn’t pose a challenge; it represents a significant step up for him, and his ambition for a larger club fits with Liverpool’s financial capability to finalize the deal.
Potential for Midfield Mastery
At just 23 years old, the Mali international has made seven goal contributions across competitions this season. With the right mentorship, he could emerge as a key midfield player for Liverpool. However, securing his transfer might prove tricky as he has a contract with Lens that lasts until 2030, which could lead to a high asking price.
Sangare possesses the necessary physical attributes to thrive in the Premier League and would aim to adapt quickly should the transfer materialize. After a lackluster season, Liverpool is keen to shore up their squad ahead of the summer transfer window, making the acquisition of a player like Sangare a priority. Whether they can bring him on board in the next few weeks remains to be seen.
