Rising Star Tarik Muharemović Attracts Major Interest
Tarik Muharemović, the young center-back from Sassuolo, has quickly become a hot commodity during the winter transfer window, impressing many across Europe with his performances in Serie A.
At the age of 22, the Bosnian international has emerged as one of Italy’s most reliable young defenders this season, leading to attention from several top clubs across the continent.
Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United are all keenly observing the defender as they weigh potential long-term additions to strengthen their defenses, according to sources familiar with the agents’ landscape.
Meanwhile, prominent Serie A clubs like Inter Milan and Juventus are also contemplating a bid. Juventus has a particular interest, owing to a significant clause in Muharemović’s contract that could play a crucial role.
In the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig is reportedly preparing a bid of €25 million plus additional bonuses, indicating their serious intent to acquire the promising defender.
Competition Heats Up for Muharemović
Muharemović made the switch to Sassuolo last summer from Juventus’ Next Gen team for approximately €3 million, a deal that has proven to be exceptionally advantageous for the club.
However, Juventus included a key stipulation in his contract that grants them 50% of any future transfer fee, complicating negotiations, especially for other Italian clubs.
Any team interested in securing the young defender must negotiate with both Sassuolo and Juventus, which will likely increase his price and complicate the process further.
This season, the defender has already made 17 appearances in Serie A for Sassuolo.
Despite the growing interest, Sassuolo is hesitant to part ways with him during January. CEO Giovanni Carnevali has mentioned that “there have been contacts but no official offers yet,” emphasizing that the club’s valuation could rise depending on the interest from various clubs.
Manchester United’s Interest Grows
Manchester United has notably been sending scouts to observe Muharemović regularly.
With uncertainty surrounding Harry Maguire’s future, United is looking to strengthen their center-back position.
Both Tottenham and Newcastle, seeking young and dynamic defenders, are expected to ramp up their efforts at the end of the season.
Given Sassuolo’s current position, a January transfer appears unlikely; however, things may change significantly when the summer transfer window opens.
For the time being, Sassuolo prepares for a potential bidding war, as elite clubs across Europe are showing keen interest in a defender whose ascent shows no signs of halting.
