Marcus Rashford Seeks Permanent Move to Barcelona
According to a shocking report from Mundo Deportivo, Marcus Rashford has no intention of returning to Manchester United.
The 28-year-old forward, currently spending the season on loan at Barcelona, is said to have decided that his future lies solely at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Despite having a contract with Manchester United until 2028, Rashford feels that the style of play under Hansi Flick aligns better with his abilities compared to the setup at Old Trafford.
Following a well-timed goal in Barcelona’s recent victory over Getafe, Rashford is confident that he has made a compelling case for a permanent transfer to the Catalan club.
His performance statistics support his optimism. In 2,333 minutes of play, Rashford has contributed to 26 goals, which includes 13 goals and 11 assists, along with two penalties won.
This equates to a goal contribution every 89 minutes, a scoring rate that surpasses many top forwards in La Liga.
Rashford Open to Salary Reduction for Move
The report indicates that Rashford is willing to accept a significant pay cut to facilitate his departure from Manchester United. Barcelona has a €30 million purchase option available until June, but the club’s financial issues have made them hesitant to finalize the transfer.
Aware that Barcelona aims to minimize both the upfront transfer fee and the long-term wage commitments for a player approaching his 29th birthday this October, Rashford has reportedly indicated a readiness to sacrifice a “generous portion” of his current salary.
He aims to settle his future before the upcoming World Cup.
Interest from Tottenham in Rashford
Although Rashford’s preference is in Spain, other teams are showing interest in case the Barcelona deal falls through. Tottenham has emerged as a serious contender to bring him back to the Premier League.
Spurs are closely monitoring the situation, viewing Rashford as a key signing for their squad rebuild under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
However, a move to North London would be complicated by Tottenham’s current league standing and Rashford’s desire to stay with Barcelona.
