Marcus Rashford Aims a Subtle Critique at Manchester United
Marcus Rashford, currently a player for Manchester United, seems to have made a veiled comment towards the club following his selection for England’s World Cup squad.
After a successful loan spell with Barcelona, Rashford has been included in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the upcoming tournament, despite experiencing difficulties during the latter part of his tenure at Manchester United.
While he remains under contract with United, Rashford hasn’t played for the team since the first half of last season. He spent the latter part of the 2024/25 season on loan at Aston Villa before transferring to Barcelona for another loan agreement this summer.
Rashford’s Instagram post has raised eyebrows as he expressed gratitude towards his coaches at Villa, Barcelona, and the England national team, notably omitting any mention of Manchester United.
To clarify any misunderstandings regarding his post, Rashford tweeted: “To make my IG story clear. It’s not a dig of any sort! I’m a MU supporter, and that remains. I was showing gratitude to the clubs and coaches that I have worked with over the past 18 months; they have played a big role in this call-up.”
At 28 years old, Rashford has emerged as a versatile player, capable of operating on the wing or as a forward. His recent performances have certainly positioned him as a significant asset for the English team this summer.
During his time at Barcelona, he has contributed impressively with 14 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, helping the team secure the La Liga title.
It remains uncertain whether Rashford will make a permanent move to the Nou Camp; however, his resurgence in form certainly warrants his place in England’s squad. Current indications suggest he may feature prominently in Tuchel’s starting lineup, likely playing on the left of an attacking trio alongside Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.
