Men’s singles Australian Open seeds: Djokovic No. 1

With the 2024 Australian Open draw ceremony being held on Thursday, the seeds for this year’s first Grand Slam were finalized following last week’s tournaments.

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz lead the way as the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the world, respectively, while Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner round out the top four. Other top-eight seeds include Andrey Rublev, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Holger Rune.

Although the top-four seeds obviously have the most favorable path to the semifinals and beyond, there could be some tough tests along the way at Melbourne Park. If seeds hold to form through two rounds, the last 32 pits No. 1 through No. 8 against No. 25 through No. 32. That bottom group is home to Lorenzo Musetti, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Tallon Griekspoor, Sebastian Korda, and Alexander Bublik. Auger-Aliassime was an Aussie Open quarterfinalist in 2022; Korda reached the quarters last year.

A 1-4 seed could also face No. 13 Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round. Dimitrov is a former Australian Open semifinalist (2017) and has advanced to the quarters on three other occasions. The in-form Bulgarian kicked off his 2024 campaign with a title in Brisbane this past week.
