Marco Rose Set to Become Bournemouth’s New Manager
Bournemouth has come to a preliminary agreement to appoint Marco Rose, previously with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, as their new head coach. This follows the unexpected news of Andoni Iraola’s exit from the club this summer.
The finalization of the deal is expected before the current season concludes, with the 49-year-old German taking charge at the Vitality Stadium starting in June.
Iraola, who led the Cherries to a record-breaking points total last season, announced earlier this week his decision to leave upon the completion of his contract in search of new opportunities.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Bournemouth acted quickly to secure Rose over other candidates, including Kieran McKenna from Ipswich Town.
On social media, Romano stated: “Bournemouth are set to appoint Marco Rose as new head coach from June. An agreement has been reached with the former RB Leipzig manager to succeed Andoni Iraola next season. Rose has consented to terms with #AFCB, and the contract is expected to be approved shortly.”
The move symbolizes a strong commitment from Bournemouth’s management, headed by football operations president Tiago Pinto, to enhance the club’s future trajectory.
With Rose available after parting ways with Leipzig in March 2025, Bournemouth bypassed potential complications related to compensation, allowing for prompt preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
Rose’s Notable European Career
With Marco Rose, Bournemouth is bringing in a manager with significant accomplishments in some of Europe’s most challenging leagues.
Renowned for his dynamic playing style featuring intense pressing and swift transitions, Rose is seen as the perfect continuation of the progressive approach initiated by Iraola.
| Club | Achievements |
| RB Salzburg | 2x Austrian Bundesliga, 1x Austrian Cup |
| RB Leipzig | 1x DFB-Pokal (2023), 1x DFL-Supercup |
| Borussia Dortmund | 2nd Place Bundesliga (2021/22) |
Marco Rose’s Achievements
His Champions League experience and success in nurturing top young talent were reportedly influential factors in owner Bill Foley’s decision to bring Rose on board.
As Bournemouth aims for a top-half finish this season, hiring a “title-winning manager” indicates that the club aspires not only for Premier League survival but also for trophies and European participation in the near future.
