Moises Caicedo Commits to Chelsea with Long-Term Contract
Chelsea has made a significant gain as star midfielder Moises Caicedo has reportedly agreed to a new, lucrative contract, turning down advances from the renowned Real Madrid.
As confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old Ecuadorian will extend his stay at Stamford Bridge through June 2033.
Key Negotiations for Chelsea’s Future
This development comes at a crucial juncture for Chelsea’s ownership under BlueCo.
After experiencing a challenging 2025/26 season under manager Liam Rosenior, the club is prioritizing the retention of key players to stabilize its future.
Romano shared on X: “Breaking: Chelsea is close to finalizing a new deal for Moises Caicedo! The contract will be valid until June 2033 as closing details are worked out, according to @CLMerlo. Caicedo has approved a long-term stay with #CFC.”
The new agreement follows a similar path taken by captain Reece James, who also recently signed a long-term extension.
For Caicedo, this decision signals strong confidence in Chelsea’s potential, despite the team currently ranking 6th in the Premier League and facing challenges in securing Champions League qualification.
Real Madrid’s Interest in Caicedo Stifled
This contract extension is a setback for Real Madrid, who had earmarked Caicedo as a major target to enhance their midfield this summer.
Reports from Spain indicated that Florentino Pérez was ready to make a substantial offer for the ‘world-class’ midfielder.
However, Caicedo has recently put an end to the speculation, stating on El Chiringuito TV that his primary objective is to become a “legend at Chelsea.”
By committing to this nine-year agreement, Caicedo has effectively dashed any hopes for a move to the Santiago Bernabéu, securing his role as a pivotal part of Chelsea’s midfield for the foreseeable future.
